So here's how it happend... by not - 06/23/09 @ 07:26 PM PDT #

First there was war, and a terrible end to that war. The island nation's culture was scarred forever by the radioactive fire that burned so many. Their surrender brought an occupying force, to be certain that they would not make war again. With the thousands of foreign soldiers, the island nation's culture started to become more similar to the nation it had attacked those years before. Over decades, the island nation began producing media that the conquerors could understand, appreciate, and even enjoy over their own products. This process was heightened by the introduction of the Internet, or World Wide Web, which allowed people from across the world to exchange ideas, impeded only by slow speeds, and language barriers.

And thus, 2ch was born.

2ch allowed the island nations tech-savvy population to converse in close to real time speeds, with the capability to upload pictures with one's posts. Discussions quickly became varied, heated, but most of all, massive. A single website came to have as much influence as a corporation.

Due to the nature of the World Wide Web, 2ch was noticeable by any across the world, and the success of this simple format drew attention from the former conquerors. One in particular, who referred to himself as moot, launched a similar site named 4chan, as an English equivalent.

4chan, as you may know, became quite successful. Many flocked to its banner, eager to discuss, debate, or above all, to enjoy themselves. But, to the sorrow of many, 4chan drew too many, too quickly. Great debates raged across its boards, and denizen after Internet denizen became angered. Several splinter factions formed, and numerous other chans were created. One such chan, named 7chan, became regarded as not such a terrible alternative to 4chan, and had a wider variety of boards. One such board, was /elit/.

Elit, the art of creating a story that both intrigues and arouses, was truly a great thing to promote on 7chan. Through many upheavals and downtimes, server splits, Zimmies, and 99chans, /elit/ was rescued again and again. However, as the time 7chan spent down became increasingly intolerable and the one on 99chan just plain sucking ass, several of the denizens of /elit/ became weary. Weary of being unable to grant unto others their creations of genius. Weary of being unable to relax while reading fascinating tales. And above all, weary of having to worry that this time, the treasued stories of before would not survive.

So it was resolved by Girlscoutcookie, the wonderous and generous, and others of /elit/ to create an archive. An archive that did not depend on the whims of the foes of 7chan, the follies of their host, nor on obscure chans you've never heard of. Ergo, 3litchan was born.

Let us be grateful, and give much praise to Girlscoutcookie, and to the honored contributors of elit, for this is not something to be squandered, or taken lightly. This can become a great thing. Remember always those who came before, and the great fury that raged when arguments could not be settled in a peaceful way. Forget not that 3litchan is home also to a board dedicated to literature of the sort allowable among mixed company.

Most important of all, enjoy this bounty, and be not afraid to contribute, for together, we are stronger than we are apart.

And please don't forget to visit the original unedited text on the /lit/ board.

Welcome! by not - 06/22/09 @ 08:11 PM PDT #

Here it is friends! A chan dedicated to stories, tales and the bards who spin them. Many thanks to our almighty overlord Girlscoutcookie for hooking up this joint. Hopefully we will have greater ability in the 'staying online' department than our blessed ancestor *cough* 7chan.

No image posting will be allowed 'round here, remember to check the little 'no file' box beside the image URL before starting a new thread.

Once again, welcome to 3litchan, read you some.
